The story of Steijn
Steijn Spreij started his career as a coach and Performance Analyst in field hockey. As a coach he worked for many clubs in the Dutch league and with the national teams O16, O18 and the Youth Olympic Team. He achieved multiple successes; National Championships, European titles, World titles and the Youth Olympic title. For more on this, check out Steijn's CV in these positions. As an analyst, he worked on the staff of the National field hockey men and women, with whom he participated in two European Championships, a World Cup and the Olympics.
In 2013, Steijn also joined the KNVB (Football Association) as an analyst during the European Junior Championship in Israel. After the European Championship, he joined the KNVB as Performance Analyst of the Dutch national team, where he was part of the technical staff during various tournaments such as; World Cup in 2014, European Championship 2021 and World Cup 2022.
Currently, as Manager Performance Analysis & Technology, Steijn is responsible for the video and data analysis of all national teams at the KNVB. The implementation of data analysis organization-wide in the process of, among other things, match analysis, scouting and player monitoring is a strategic pillar.
In short, measuring and providing insight into the performance and thus being able to support the players, teams, employees and organizations on their way to success drives Steijn enormously.
