What you need to know about HubSpot's European Data Center

HubSpot is proud to announce that as of today they have set up the first regional data center in Europe. If you use HubSpot CRM, this means that your data can now be stored regionally.

Why is this important?

Why is this important? European customers regularly request regional data storage of HubSpot CRM data, and the importance of this has increased recently. With a data and privacy landscape that is constantly changing rapidly, HubSpot customers need to feel secure that the data they use is also stored regionally. In addition, an added benefit is that this regional data storage also allows for faster serving of this data in places where it matters.

For many customers, the very fact that their data is not stored in the EU creates more friction in their sales, marketing and service conversations. With the launch of the European Data Center in the European Union, HubSpot is offering the ability to store your data in the EU, thereby storing all the data in your HubSpot CRM regionally.

New HubSpot customers will be eligible to take advantage of this new European HubSpot data center as of July 19, 2021.

Existing HubSpot customers can start the migration process in 2022 to migrate data to the European data center. A more concrete date is not yet available. HubSpot is now finalizing this migration process so that this process goes smoothly for existing customers.

Below are answers to the most common questions regarding the new data center:

What data will be migrated during the migration process?

It is expected that most of the data in your HubSpot CRM can be migrated to the European data center. HubSpot is finalizing the rollout of this process, also looking at data effectively stored outside of HubSpot. Examples include DNS settings for your HubSpot website or, for example, external embed codes you've implemented.

Are there any consequences if I don't migrate my data?

No, if you choose not to migrate your data, you will continue to use the current solution offered by HubSpot, described in the Data Processing Agreement. Of course, you won't notice any performance difference either, should you choose not to use this migration.

What third-party technology will be used?

A complete list of all supporting technology and parties can be found in Appendix 4 of the HubSpot Data Processing Agreement.

How will I know when I can start the migration?

As a HubSpot customer, you will be notified when you can start the migration. You can also keep an eye on the dedicated Data Center page for updates.

HubSpot is taking a great step forward in data storage to now also offer the choice to store your HubSpot CRM data regionally in Europe. Does your organization need help or have further questions? Get in touch and we'll be happy to help!
